Round 2 Game 1
Round 1 game 2 of the NHL playoffs started today for the Vancouver Canucks and the Nashville Predators. My thoughts on this game are, for the most part, positive. The Canucks played better. I'd say they have defiantly learnt from round 1 against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Canucks were more confident tonight. They handled the puck better, dominated the face offs, and more or less controlled the majority of the first 2 periods. The Canucks won 1-0. It was their goaltender, Roberto Luongos second shut out of the playoffs so far. The Predators were not so great. Their goaltender was amazing. One could say he's the reason they only lost by one goal. The rest of team didn't have much life. Offensively they did not show up. Defensively they were not so bad. All in all the Canucks defiantly dominated the first game of round 2.
Head Shots
The NHL is trying to rid the league of head shots, which have caused many serious injuries. Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, was victim of two head shots, one in January 1st 2011 and the other on January 5th 2011. These head shots resulted in Crosby getting a severe concussion, which has cost him the remainder of this hockey season. Raffi Torres of the Vancouver Canucks received a 4 game suspension for a blindside hit to another players head. The NHL was making an example out of him. An example which seems pointless now, due to the multiple headshots that have taken place during the playoffs that have gone undisciplined.
Alex Burrows
Alex Burrows is a hockey player for the Vancouver Canucks. He was born in Quebec, Canada. The Vancouver Canucks are currently in NHL playoffs. Game 7 of the first round was played on Tuesday. The first goal by the Canucks was scored by winger, Alex Burrows. The game went into overtime and Alex Burrows scored the winning OT goal. The Canucks won this game 2-1, Alex Burrows getting both goals. He was given first star of the game for this. Just last night, he and his wife had a baby girl, which they named Victoria. One hopes that, as with most other NHL players, the birth of his child will mean he was play incredibly well his next game. This next game happens to be tonight, round 2, game 1, of the NHL playoffs. The Canucks will be playing the Nashville Predators. Good luck Alex Burrows and Canucks!!
